GE RIC5-9-D Probe
Fault: Dome loose, straight relief tiny broken, with error on
machine.
Solution: Replace dome and oiling.
Repair cost : $***.
Common Issues with the GE RIC5-9-D Ultrasound Probe:
Image Artifacts/Dropouts: These can manifest as lines, shadowing, or a complete loss of
image in certain areas. Common causes include:
Crystal Damage: Piezoelectric crystals within the transducer array can become
damaged due to physical impact, overheating, or degradation over
time.
Lens Damage: Cracks, swelling, or detachment of the acoustic lens can impede
sound transmission and reception, leading to image distortion or
dropouts.
Air Bubbles/Delamination: Air trapped between the lens and the crystal array can severely
degrade image quality. Delamination within the array layers can
also cause issues.
Connector Issues: Bent or broken pins in the connector, or damage to the internal
wiring within the connector, can disrupt signal transmission.
No Image: Complete absence of an image can be due to:
Cable Damage: Breaks or shorts in the probe cable can interrupt power and signal
flow. Look for kinks, cuts, or excessive wear.
Connector Damage: As mentioned above, severe damage to the connector can result in
no image.
Internal Failure: Failure of internal electronics within the probe.
Poor Image Quality (Blurry, Distorted):
Lens Issues: Surface damage (scratches), fluid leaks under the lens, or lens
swelling can distort the ultrasound beam.
Internal Damage: Misalignment or damage to internal acoustic components.
Fluid Leaks: Leakage of acoustic coupling gel or internal oil (in oil-filled
probes) can indicate damage to seals or the lens assembly. This can
lead to image degradation and potential internal damage.
Physical Damage: Cracks in the probe housing, damage to the strain relief, or other
physical damage can compromise the probe's integrity and safety.
4D Issues (if applicable): Problems with the motor or internal mechanisms responsible for
volume acquisition in 4D probes can lead to distorted or
non-functional 4D imaging.
